TECH giant Microsoft and Yotta Data Services have joined hands to drive Artificial Intelligence (AI) adoption in India.
The collaboration will bring together Microsoft’s Azure AI services and Yotta’s AI cloud platform Shakti Cloud, India’s first sovereign compute platform, to provide advanced capabilities to developers, startups, enterprises, and government-run organizations across India.
The partnership enables Microsoft and Yotta, which is a sovereign cloud infrastructure and platform services provider, to engage with IndiaAI Mission participants, government agencies, Indian Institutes of Technology, startups, enterprises, and software development companies to drive AI innovation.
India’s information technology ministry has launched IndiaAI Mission, an initiative to build a comprehensive ecosystem that fosters AI innovation in India.
The Microsoft-Yotta partnership will work towards AI adoption in sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, education, finance, manufacturing, retail, and media.
The partnership will support the IndiaAI Mission by enhancing local AI capabilities, fostering innovation, and strengthening AI infrastructure.
As of May 2025, IndiaAI Mission has received over 500 proposals for developing indigenous AI models.
Yotta’s infrastructure, which is hosted within India, is intended to ensure data remains within national borders.
Microsoft chief executive officer Satya Nadella, during his visit to Indian in January, had said that the company will invest $3 billion to expand its cloud computing and artificial intelligence capabilities in India.
The tech giant had also announced its plan to train 10 million people in AI skills in India by 2030.
